Filament is a three-part science fiction saga. An insightful, smart new motion picture project.

An alien creates a technology that by random chance is found by an early primitive human two million years ago. Remnants from that time are discovered by an anthropology graduate student and his dissertation advisor. With the help of “hard” scientists, they all come to comprehend how the discovery is a massive leap forward in technology and a potential major advantage for the United States.

Avarice and arrogance on the part of the senior scientist and a series of natural events cause the technology to be lost. Years later a gruesome discovery leads the anthropologists to re-discover the technology and they are placed in charge of Project Filament, a secretive billion-dollar government program. When unexpected detrimental global effects of the technology become apparent, it is the staff of Project Filament that gambles on a solution.

SUMMARY

ACTORS

“Coop” is just finishing his Ph.D. dissertation. He is much more resourceful than your typical graduate brainiac and looks more like a college athlete than a graduate student. Nevertheless, Coop is not a straight A student. It isn’t so much that he doesn’t have an excellent command of standard academic information as that he sees lots of alternate explanations and likes playing the devil’s advocate.

Zach Scott Hawley

I've been acting since I was 6, starting out as lead roles in small community theater productions of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I eventually booked my first paid acting role at the age of 12, where I played Billy Ray in On Golden Pond. From there, it was off to the races, and I've been acting in dozens of small productions ever since. I was not only born and raised in Arizona, but my roots have tied me to this region since before it was even a state. I've lived all over the country but have decided to make Arizona my and my family's home. I'm not only a Father and Actor but also a Business Owner, using my decade-plus of software and business experience to help customers negotiate with better data.

I love to do things outside that revolve around athletics and activity, primarily working out and playing games with my three daughters. However, nothing beats a night in with Sam, my wife of over ten years. If I ever retire, I want to become a ticket taker at a local movie theater so I can see as many movies as I want for free

BIO

LISA RYAN, PH.D.

Assistant Professor Department of Anthropology

as

Ryan is a cross between Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) and Farrah Fawcett. She is a favorite with TV reporters and quickly became the undisputed hottie of the Anthropology Department and fantasy of all the male students including Coop. This is her first university teaching position since graduating, for which she is highly qualified. Ryan is ripper smart, poised, and confident.

I am an accomplished actress, having performed leading roles in several productions. I couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to be cast in this role. My background covers a wide range of health and fitness business development. I am no stranger to being in front of an audience, with a natural passion and magnetism that, along with my previous acting experience, makes it feel like second nature. I have the versatility to play a wide range of roles, with no limit to what I can take on. I truly believe life is an adventure, and I’m thrilled to be diving into this new one!

BIO

MING YOUNG, PH.D.

Associate Professor Material Sciences Department

as

Young teaches graduate classes and works with Dr Colbert. He is very competent and hardworking. Young is uncomfortable with interpersonal drama and would prefer everyone to be scientific, cooperative, and polite. He recognizes that Colbert is a pushy jackass, but it would be academic suicide to openly criticize the department Chairman. So, Young plays the role of a compliant soldier and enjoys the benefits of Colbert’s research grants.

I am young and enthusiastic about acting and the opportunity to build a career. Originally from the
Philippines, I moved to the U.S. in 2017 to finish college focusing on production. My life was comprised of a lot of school and athletic training until I found filmmaking and acting. I started out doing theatre and eventually moved to films. I am known for independent short films, OCP for Gila River Casinos, and multiple lead roles in theatre. I am particularly drawn to the work of science fiction storytelling.

BIO

SAMUEL COLBERT, PH.D.

Chairman, Material Sciences Department

as

Colbert is one of the most influential department heads on campus. He has brought in millions of dollars of government and military research projects to the university and is a big deal on campus. Colbert thinks of himself as superior to others and it shows in his capricious and condescending interactions with subordinates.

I have done a very wide variety of films, commercials, and stage roles throughout my acting career,
from farces to heavy dramas. I can be seen in films on Lifetime and Amazon Prime, and commercials
that have run on major cable and broadcast television outlets. In addition, I am an accomplished pianist
and musician, should that be needed in your production.

WILLIAM FRIDAY

BIO

SENATOR MC NAMARA

Member of Armed Services Committee

as

McNamara has worked with Colbert over many years to secure dozens of million-dollar government and military research projects for the university. They have both significantly benefited. McNamara is pragmatic about everything and manages his contact with Colbert as simply a means to an end.

My acting experience spans the globe and several decades. I have performed major and minor roles in
dozens of stage productions, films and commercials from California to Diego Garcia. My versatility is my major artistic strength.  I particularly excel in unique character creation, excelling in accents & dialects. I also have acrobatic skills including being a unicyclist and juggler. I am Arizona based but happy to travel.

MALE, VOICEOVER

VALK

Adolescent Homo erectus male

as

Valk's story is told in third person by a distinguished sounding male narrator. Valk is a very early primitive human with minimal language and basic communication gestures. He accidentally finds what he understands as “cut magic” to advance himself far beyond current ideas of Homo erectus intelligence.

BIO

 VOICEOVER

SCIENTIST K

Genetically Engineered Alien

as

K's story is told in first person with a machine-like inflection. K was created with the expectation that K would make significant scientific contributions. The achievements of K’s species have affected vast numbers of other worlds but are ironically unknowable to them. Over time K becomes more introspective about his accomplishments, purpose, and legacy.
